Things to do Kotor with a Local: History, Culture, Legends & Hidden Stories

If you want to discover Kotor through history, humor, religion, legends, gastronomy, local stories, gossip, and anecdotes, and of course, the famous cats of Kotor, then you are in the right place. I’m a certified guide, which means you will get real knowledge and proper historical context — just without the feeling that you accidentally joined a university exam. Every tour is a little different depending on the group, so I adapt naturally to the people walking with me. Expect good energy, plenty of smiles, useful information, and stories that go far beyond the usual guidebook version of Kotor. Important and good to know before the tour: Guided tourists pay city tax, which is 1€ per person. One honest local warning: if you are coming from Budva, Tivat, or nearby, don’t trust the map too much right now. Because of the roadworks on the Jaz–Tivat road, a 25-minute drive can sometimes become 1.5 hours, so please leave at least 2 hours earlier. And if you are coming from Dubrovnik, give yourself plenty of extra time as well. The border between Croatia and Montenegro can be very slow, and with the newer entry procedures, crossing times may be longer than expected.
