Durres - Historic City Tour

On this tour, we’ll explore Durres's history, starting with the newest fort, the Ottoman fortress from 1501. We’ll begin at Torra Veneziane to learn about the city’s seafront history. Then, we’ll see the ancient walls of Emperor Anastas in the Kala neighborhood. Along Epidamn Boulevard, we’ll see how the city developed, leading to the Port and City Square construction in the 1930s. We’ll also visit religious buildings in the castle area and discuss their past and present roles in the community. Finally, we’ll explore the Amphitheater of Durres, its surrounding houses, and the history of excavations there, from the earliest discoveries to current plans for research and preservation. The places we’ll visit during the tour include: Venetian Tower, Durrës Fortifications, The Church of Apostle Paul and Saint Asti, Orthodox Church, Durrës Hamam, Bulevardi Epidamn, Traditional architecture, Fatih Mosque, Durrës Amphitheatre, Santa Lucia Catholic Church, Sheshi Liria - Town Square, Durrës City Hall, Great Mosque of Durrës. This tour will delve into the city’s history, from the 20th century to antiquity.
