Things to do Harry's Free Tour of Toulouse
So, you understand English, like the "Free Tour" format and are in Toulouse, most likely on Vacation. You'll be looking for me then! ;) I've lived here 20 years now and have spent quite a lot of that time trying to write an Historical Fiction of this city. What does that mean for you? It means I've studied its History with a passion and have always regarded its Historical events through the lens of "How could this event best be told in narrative form?" Which is what I do. I tell stories. True stories of things that actually happened here in Toulouse. But stories, nevertheless. On this Tour you will see… Place du Capitole Rue Saint Rome Hotel Assezat Pont Neuf La Daurade and la Basilique Les Jacobins Rue de Taur La Basilica St Sernin And, although the History stuff does tend to wander I try to make its telling as linear as possible. I will cover… Medieval Toulouse The Cathars The Albigensian Crusade The Inquisition The Canal du Midi The Revolution in Toulouse The Great Flood of 1875 and a lot more… I won't leave you ignorant either as to where is best to eat and drink in town and what other things there are to do. “A wonderful tour”
Harry is a great guide. He is extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. The tour gave an excellent overview of the history of Toulouse but included some recommendations for future visits to sites and places to eat. The pace was suitable with stops for some in-depth information about locations.
Possibly the best walking tour I have been on -and there have been many. My wife said she could listen to Harry all day!

“A day in Tolosa with Harry”
If you like history you can not miss this tour. Harry will guide you in the history of Tolosa during three hours of absolute fun and cultural entertainment. He is so deep in the middle age period and so amazing in the story telling that you will realize that three hours is not enough and you would keep going for the whole day. We hardly met in our travelling experience a paid or free guide that can compare to Harry.

We had a great walking tour with Harry. The stories of Harry covered history, culture and interesting facts of Toulouse.
The guide made jokes during the walking tour and took care of answering questions of participants. The tour was well organized as a non-demanding walking tour through the city center. I recommend to wear warm clothing if you are taking this tour in winter.
It is good choice who is interested to learn about history of Toulouse.

Harry was very passionate when talking about the history of Toulouse and was clearly very knowledgable in it. I liked that he also highlighted some areas of Toulouse which tourists usually would not think to go to but are in fact quite beautiful and hold historical significance. He was also very keen to give us his recommendations of places to check out after the tour which was nice.

Myself and my boyfriend attended Harry's tour and it was by far the most informative and fun walking tour I've ever experienced. We are from Malta and he was able to bridge what he knew about Toulouse to Maltas history and gave everyone similar individual attention - from the welcome to the end. There were 20 people in my tour and most of the them I spoke with afterwards didn't rate the tour. But these people obviously aren't taking the time to write reviews for an average tour.
The first 90 minutes was the best part. Harry was funny and shared some interesting history of Toulouse. But the rest of it was a complete drag. The tour could have been easily condensed into 90 minutes.
People were clearly tuning out and going on their phones.
4 people left the tour early.
I would not recommend this tour. I thought it was overrated.
And you don't get to actually walk around much. You end up standing for most of it, listening to Harry ramble.
Also, Harry was getting visibly annoyed at the group for not knowing some of the history that he was referring to. I'm not sure if he was just having a bad day or that's what he's always like.
This tour has put me off future walking tours.

Hey Harry! My dog, Dewey, and I loved our tour today. We could have spent the whole day walking Toulouse w you.
A few ideas on how to reduce the tour time...1) skip the kilt story. 2) reduce time spent on black Madonna dresses and your discovery of the relic sham! 3) restaurant suggestions not that helpful

One more thing...half of your audience today were women NOT guys. To address the group you could use words like everybody, folks, people or my personal favorite, YA'll.
To call us guys is ...well ...antiquated, weird, insensitive and out of touch w the new POLITICALLY CORRECT approach to pronouns referring to gender.
I am going to live here for at least a month and will do other tours to continue my CRUSADE to learn more about this city but I doubt any will be as interesting or entertaining.

“Great informative tour”
Harry was passionate about the content and this helped us get into the history and research after also. I thought it was great apart from 1. There was a bit of jumping around with the content. A more linear approach would have been easier to follow and 2. Three hours just seems to be too long. You lose interest and don't retain information as well. in saying this we have done many walking tours and this was definitely one of the better ones!

The tour was nice, but I do wish it was a bit shorter. This is especially true since we went about 15 minutes longer than planned. Pretty decent balance of walking vs standing (standing more than 5 minutes in one place is too long on such a long tour).

Harry is so passionate about what he does and it brought us so much joy to see someone who genuinely enjoys what they do. He left us with very fond memories and helped us enjoy our time in Toulouse to the fullest!

He specializes in Roman to Renaissance period and really give you an idea of How & Why the city was founded and it’s continued growth through the ages. He has a wealth of knowledge of not only history but where to eat and where to avoid. I can’t recommend him enough, he truly made our visit to Toulouse.

“Harry’s tour of Toulouse ”
This was by far the best walking tour we have done (we have done a lot).
Harry’s knowledge and ability to share that knowledge was second to none. He is so passionate and I think the faa as ft he is not a local by birth provides quite a different perspective.
I loved it so much if I had time I think I would have gone again. You have definitely found your calling Harry.

“Excellent tour of Toulouse ”
Harry is a font of information on the history of Toulouse. He makes it most entertaining and in a context we can relate to our current day. Being 70yo ladies, we thought that three hours would be too long, but the time just flew and we were never bored. Harry is an exceptional story teller. He even took us to the markets when the tour had finished, and gave some great advice on where to eat and where to be cautious. Highly recommend Harry's Free Walking Tour of Toulouse.

I highly recommend this tour - Harry is so knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Toulouse.
Only thing is - if you are not a native English speaker - Harry speaks quite fast ???? otherwise he couldn’t do the tour in just 3 hours.

“Brilliant Tour”
