In the early morning, meet your guide at 4:50 AM for the Angkor Wat sunrise, a complex of the largest monuments in the world, with masterpieces of Hindu scriptures and legends. It is one of the seven finest world heritage sites on Earth. Afterward, we return to the hotel for breakfast and relaxation.
We start our tour at the South Gate of Angkor Thom, the last city of the Khmer Empire, covering 3 square kilometers with a large moat and steep enclosure in front of the four faces of the South Gate. Next, we continue to Bayon, known for the many faces on the four sides of its towers, representing the four noble truths of Mahayana Buddhism, with serene smiles and peaceful icons.
We then walk to Baphuon, a Hindu temple built before Angkor Wat in the 11th century, with a reclining Buddha built behind it in the 16th century. We continue to the Royal Palace Enclosure nearby, featuring the Elephant Terrace, the Leper King Terrace, and Sur Prot, all still part of the Angkor Thom complex.
Next, we visit Ta Nei, built by Jayavarman VII. Finally, we reach Ta Prohm, located on the small circuit road, famous for its massive tree roots that have overtaken the temple.
