Things to do San Francisco's Hippie Culture: Self-Guided Exploration Game
This is a self-guided exploration game crafted by a passionate local storyteller and played outdoors, on the streets of San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury. You will explore 10 iconic locations while following a detective mystery about a missing 19-year-old. At each location, you'll be solving a real-world puzzle by searching for clues on various elements such as monuments, graffiti, and facades. The game is mainly focused around the Haight-Ashbury area and includes many local legends and historical facts about American music, art, and political life.
Starting from The DeLuxe, the stops are spaced an average of around 350m apart, with each location taking around 8 min to complete. The route will also have you visit the homes where Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and The Grateful Dead lived and played. At every stop, the app unlocks a new chapter and guides people to the next location.
DISCLAIMER: You will explore by yourself using the Questo app on your phone. No physical guide and no strangers will be involved. The full route covers approximately 3.5 km and takes around 1h 23min to complete. You can play it any day, at any time. Languages available: EN.
