Things to do Santa Teresa & Selarón Stairway Bohemian Experience

A tram that defies time, 19th and early 20th-century architecture, handcrafted art, and a vibrant gastronomic scene await you in Santa Teresa. This charming neighborhood is home to cultural centers, museums and a welcoming bohemian community. Our journey may begin with a scenic tram ride into the heart of Santa Teresa. [As there are some problems with the tram and lines can be of 2 hours waiting - unless you show your id being over 65 yo, we walk to Santa Teresa and use the tram to come down, if possible]. In Santa Teresa, we’ll walk approximately 3 to 4 km, exploring its main attractions like the iconic Selarón Stairway in Lapa, the third most visited site in Rio. Old houses and palaces, the historic Lapa Aqueduct, Gloria Maria Cultural Center with it wonderful view of the bay and lots of art during the walk.

“Amazing Tour”

Eduardo is so knowledgable and patient, I thoroughly enjoyed this tour because I didn't just get to see the Selaron steps and Lapa Arches, but Eduardo took me to the best place for açai (they also do delicious pho de queijo as well!), we went to amazing art galleries, museums and some beautiful hidden gems that were much less touristy than the selaron steps! And with beautiful views. Eduardo was great at taking photos for me as well, and then to finish we took the tram all the back towards Carioca station. I've booked another tour with him when I'm back in Rio at the end of the month - I cannot recommend this man enough. He is lovely and a joy to hang out with. Thanks for a magical afternoon Eduardo!!

“Interesting, beautiful and very informative Tour”

It was a very private tour, as it was only another person and me - Hence it gave you more like the „a friend is showing me his favourite city“ vibes. Santa Teresa and the Selarón stairs were very charming and the stories behind the artwork and buildings provided by Eduardo were so interesting. I had a great time and I would recommend anyone doing a tour with him!

Really nice tour, which starts with a tram ride and then walking around Santa Teresa. Ending up at Selaron Steps. Edouard is very knowledgeable and a great guide. It was a lot of fun to discover the Santa Teresa neighbourhood, which is very lively and full of great street art. I highly recommend this tour!

“For us - best walking tour guide ever!”

Eduardo's delivery is a perfect blend of interesting and informative. It is rare you find someone who seems so in tuned with their world and surroundings. He effortlessly guides and interacts with locals and tourists while pointing out key POIs and providing background stories that keep your attention. In our case, it was just for 2 of us so he offered to adjust the tour as needed. We originally thought 2 hours would be enough but the next thing we knew, 4 hours had passed and we could have just kept following him around. In addition, as great as the Selaron Steps are, with Eduardo, you will see the charms of Santa Teresa as a whole. Easy to recommend.

Excelente tour con Eduardo porque parte de la visita a Santa Teresa en tranvía. Con esto se logra facilidad y simpatía de movimiento.
