Odesa by locals who like to show their city and want to improve their English (even though we might feel a bit scared). We are people who like to practice English and other languages, who like to meet new people, who like to try being a guide, who like Odesa and Ukraine, who like to share their enjoyment with others. We are not professionals, we would just like you to love Odesa as we do. PS: Please be responsible for booking the tour. If you change your plans, it is important to cancel the booking and inform us. “Michael veeeery good guide”
I spent with michael very good time. He speak fluent english and i got very interesting information about the current situation that ukraine is living righnow and about its historic, the tour took more that two hours almost three, and it was very interesting. I highly recomend it

“An excellent introduction to Odesa (with Michael)”
I went on this free (tip based) walking tour of the historical centre of Odesa with Michael the day I arrived in Odesa.
This was an excellent introduction to Odesa by Michael, starting at Cathedral Square and seeing many of the major historical and current places of interest - including the Opera House, City Hall, Potemkin Steps as well as many more (and Odesa's cats!).
I learnt a lot about Odesa, past and present - and Michael's love for his city shines through and makes the tour engaging and interesting (and not just informative).
I visited Odesa at a very difficult time for Odesa (August 2024) - and I am grateful for Ukraine by Locals still running the tour and just for a single traveller.

Przemiła, sympatyczna osoba, która ciekawie opowiada o historii, legendach i tajemnicach Odessy.
To były bardzo miłe dwie godziny spaceru.
Swietłana jest niesamowita, potrafi mówić po polsku i angielsku bardzo swobodnie. Mieliśmy w swojej grupie osobę nie mówiąca po polsku, która dołączyła w ostatniej chwili i dla niej nie był to problem oprowadzać nas mówiąc po polski i za chwilę po angielsku. Serdecznie ją pozdrawiamy, grupa z Gdańska.

Our guide Svetlana was very sweet. We had an incredible time for 2 hours where she took us to parts of the old town which we would've not otherwise gone too, and gave us some information of history and famous people that came from Odessa. We also had a piano session as Svetlana is a classical pianist. That was quite memorable. And she sang a verse from a song by one of the local composers. I can't remember the name. If someone reading this knows, please do message me what it's called.

“Michael - The guide you want in Odessa”
Michael was astonishingly knowledgeable about the city, and could answer with ease to any of our questions (even complicated ones with no direct relation with the tour, like the state of mind of Hungarian and Romanian soldiers during WWII). The cherry on the cake was that he went sometimes above and beyond by telling about his own experiences and funny things that happened to him personally in the city, which made it go outside of the bounderies of a "regular" tour. 10/10!

Svitlana była bardzo miłym przewodnikiem, atmosfera wycieczki była bardzo przyjemna i Svitlana bez problemu dopasowywała się do tego, co konkretnie nas interesowało. Obejrzeliśmy najważniejsze budynki w centrum i usłyszeliśmy kilka ciekawostek. Wycieczka trwała 2,5 godziny.

We really enjoyed our walking tour of Odessa with Tonya. She was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing the city's history and, as a trained musician, she even sang a few songs to provide context. She covered an interesting mix of sites, including architectural landmarks, colorful personalities, and key moments in the city's evolution from a small port in the old Russian empire to the present. It was definitely a few hours well-spent and a great way to duck off the beaten path into courtyards and interesting neighborhoods.

“Great for a first overview over the city”
Michael was a fantastic guide who didn't cancel the tour despite downpouring rain conditions and still was able to deliver lots of information about the history of Odessa. He was absolutely competent and therefore delivered a great experience. My recommendation for people who are interested: do the tour on the day of your arrival.
The little downside of this tour in general is (and that's absolutely not the guide's fault) is that I would have preferred also seeing places you wouldn't visit as a tourist anyway. The tour is mostly around the main sights of Odessa, so including some "secret spots" would be amazing. But this is only complaining on a high level :)

“Satisfied with the Polish tour”
I was the only person who took a tour in Polish but the guide came anyway, showed me the city and not touristic places. She was attentive to my suggestions and was talking with me a lot. She is a pleasant person to communicate and spend time with. I learned a lot from her about Odesa :)
