The oldest and most famous neighborhood of New Orleans is the French Quarter. It is the city's very first neighborhood, founded in 1718 as a French Colony on the Mississippi River. On this tour, we will explore this iconic neighborhood and learn about some of the city's most interesting events and historical figures. We will visit Jackson Square and see the oldest building in New Orleans, the Ursuline Convent. On this tour, we will also talk about Spanish Colonial Architecture and its positive effects on the living conditions of the city. We will also see the French Market which indigenous people used as a trading post prior to the foundation of the colony going back centuries. We will also see Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop Bar, where you will learn about Jean Lafitte, the city's most prolific pirate, and his role in the Battle of New Orleans.
