Things to do Karen Blixen Museum and the Giraffe Centre
Just a few minutes from the city center of Nairobi is Karen Blixen Museum and Giraffe Centre. The Karen Blixen Museum is popularly known for the movie “Out of Africa” which all its fans will want to pay a visit. Drive towards Ngong Hills by passing the Bomas of Kenya to the Karen Blixen Museum. This Museum opened in May 1991 and it occupies the house in which Karen Blixen lived as a farmer here in Africa. It was here that she wrote all her internationally renowned stories.
Later on, proceed to the Giraffe Centre in Lang'ata to view and feed the famous Rothschild’s giraffe from a specially constructed viewing platform. These are an endangered species in Kenya. The David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and Giraffe Centre rescues injured and orphaned elephants and raises them until they can be independent.
