We will be eager to share every little secret of this town, and we’ll help you feel comfortable, cosy and welcomed at this once biggest industrial Soviet giant.
Things to do Mykolaiv Free City Centre Walking
More than two hundred years ago when the city was founded it was decided that due to serpentine brinks it can serve as an excellent military stronghold and a shipyard.
So it did. It was known as a mighty shipbuilding centre over the country. Therefore, Mykolaiv was closed to any curious onlookers in Soviet times.
Nowadays, everyone's welcome to visit, but there are no ships coming off the docks anymore.
Still, the city holds four shipbuilding companies occupied with ship-repairing and pretty big trading seaport but real headliner here now is the gas turbine company.
Soviet architecture is harmoniously complemented by the tzarist one creating the sense of being propelled into the past. It is incredible!
For flora and fauna fans - the local zoo is the choice. It's more than a hundred years old and considered to be one of the best in Ukraine.
All in all, Mykolaiv is a provincial city - nice and mysterious in a way, busy with its private matters but very calm, southern and romantic. You'll never find road traffic here unless the bridge is raised to let a big ship pass by.
