We had an incredible experience on Sheva's Free Walking Tour of Mostar! Our guide, Arnela, was fantastic—she provided a well-structured and engaging overview of Bosnia and Herzegovina's history, blending historical facts with personal insights. Despite the rainy February weather, she made sure we stayed as comfortable as possible, thoughtfully guiding us to sheltered spots throughout the tour. This extra effort made a huge difference and showed her dedication to her guests.

Arnela is first of all lovable, knowledgable, and extremly well balanced over the very brutal past which also happend to her and her family. She lives under the motto: forgive but never forget. She really loves her city Mostar and wants that all the world (who are interested in Bosnian Herzogovinas history) to come to this beautiful spot. Mostar is not as touristy and spoilt as Dubrownik and Split but it has more character, tradition, liveliness and authencity. So you might feel more soul and empathie in Mostar. Enjoy!

This was a really good our. Interesting and touching, with personal touches from the experiences of our tour guide. She was very sincere, knowledgeable and passionate. This history is important to share with the world. “A great intro to the history of Mostar and BnH”
The tour was a detailed introduction to Mostar and Bosian + Herzegovina. Whereas many tours will take you to checkpoints of the main sites of the city, this tour was more concerned with providing an overview of the history of the region, using each location to add context and extend the narrative. I truely feel like i have a better understanding of how BnH history has gone down and it makes sense in my mind as a linear interconnected series of eras. It is well worth your time and i will recommend it to anyone visiting Mostar.

Best tour I ever had. Incredible historical insight, great delivery. So many things finally made sense, historically speaking. From the Ottomans, the rise and fall of Yugoslavia til modern times Sheva takes you through it all, not to mention the cultural insights, the little anecdotes...
Can only recommend. Important lessons to be learnt - as a tourist and also just a human being, looking at history through a critical lense, coming from someone who experienced the recent war first hand...
Please people, don't miss out on this experience. If I had loads of money, I'd now where to donate to but, sadly, I only have my words to give. So - excellent tour, thanks ever so much :)

I can't think of anything to make the tour we made better.
Arnela was a splendid guide. From the logistic aspects like trying to do explanations in shady places and with water (it was incredibly hot) to the content she explained.
It's incredible the amount of knowledge she shared along the tour (history, religion, culture, politics, military, geography...) and how pleasant and light she made it at the same time (often with humour, anecdotes and overall, really passionate). The wrap of it all was truly touching and felt deep.
You could really feel how much she believes in the work she does. Honestly, it's a must if you visit Mostar. I'm really grateful for this experience.

“Getting to know Mostar and not only - highly recommended!”
My best decision on this first trip to Bosnia-Herzegovina was to participate in the tour with Arnela, her explanations allowed me to understand so much more of what I have seen at Mostar (and also in the rest of my travelling around in BiH), she managed immediately to understand how to „get“ her audience, her discourse was perfectly structured and paced (with moments of rest for us, whereas she went on for all the time with unvaried enthusiam and energy!), sensitive to her audience and especially also to the beautiful, astonishing, complicated, torn but vivid place she introduced us to. Thanks a lot!! :)

“Just simply great”
I can recommend this tour to everyone who is open and interested into the overal history of mostar. Our guide covered it's history over mainly the past 500 years, since the arrival of ottomans. There is much more to learn about the city than just it's recent share in the war. You can ask her in depth questions and she is not just capable of answering but also takes her time.

We decided to go to Mostar for its beautiful bridge yet because of this tour, we have a deeper understanding of its history. Our guide Arnela was amazing. She herself is a symbol of courage and hope.

“Stadtführung in Mostar ”
Ich war sehr zufrieden mit der Stadtführung. War mehrmals in Mostar, aber leider immer in der Covidzeit. Jetzt habe ich endlich mal an der Stadtführung teilgenommen. Der Tag war heiss, aber nicht so extreme. Es freut mich immer neue Informationen aus der Geschichte zu hören und auch nicht so schöne Geschichte der letzten 30 Jahren die man durch Krieg und Zerfall der Jugoslawien erlebt hat. Man hat auch Information geteilt das viele Touristen aus Australien kommen, würde ich wider komme mit meine Tante und Onkel aus Brisbane.

“Incredibly informative and personal”
We really enjoyed the tour with Arnela. She managed to make you listen to her attentively for 2.5 hours and the time flew by so quickly that you would have liked to stay longer. She conducted the tour with so much passion. She also conveyed her personal insights into the time of the war very authentically. You should definitely go on this tour!

“Great tour”
The tour was very interesting and informative. It covers pretty much the whole history of the city and some history of the country. It's sometimes sad but in a way, it has to be, considering that the last war happened there just 30 years ago and that the guide experienced it. I'm not saying it in a negative sense though, I agree that we all should remember to prevent such things from happening again. But don't you think that the tour is only about war, it covers pretty much all aspects of living in Mostar. We visited a workshop, we got food recommendations, we heard about local customs, the economy, and the complicated political system of the country. It was a great experience and Arnela is a great tour guide.

“Great Tour of both history and war”
Super impressed. Sheva covered a lot in a short amount of time. He seemed surprised we had no questions — it was because he was so great at explaining things! First half covers pre-90s history of the area, then the second half moves into how the war affected Mostar and him personally. Would recommend.

“Great experience ”
We did the tour with Arnela on july 2 2021and it was a great experience. Arnela was a great speaker, has a great sense of humour and her tour was very informative starting with the pre-ottoman era and ending with where Mostar is today. Hearing Arnela's first hand account of the war is an experience i will not forget.
