Things to do Mdina and Rabat Walking Tour inc. Entrance to Catacombs and Grotto

Take a journey back in time with our guides on the Mdina Tour, admiring the magnificent palazzos and churches in the city’s unique mix of medieval and baroque styles, as well as the spectacular panoramas from the high bastion walls. You will learn about the colourful history of Mdina and the many sieges it endured, offering shelter and protection to the Maltese population against the frequent pirate attacks; and hear the story of how the Maltese uprising against the French in 1798 started. From 1st April onwards, the tour will also includes an entrance ticket of the Catacombs. An additional 10EUR fee will be applicable to visit the catacombs and a guided tour.

“A necessity if you love history! Book now!”

Matthew made me want to come back to Malta! I really wish this tour was longer. He made me want to hear much more about these two great towns. I didn't have that much time to spend but now I want to go back just to explore so much more. So much history is buried under these ancient towns and this tour definitely gives an excellent background that will help you understand the tourism that they enjoy. Matthew is such an intriguing tour guide that you won't realize how much you will learn in a short amount of time. Make sure to ask about the GOT spots if you are a fan after the tour. Tip him well, it is worth it!

“Overall a little boring for us”

Too much focus on Rabat rather than Mdina. If you are interested in churches and information about religion, it would be interesting for you, but if not you might find the tour a little boring. The guide was knowledgeable and kind, but I think some interaction with the tourists would be beneficial in order to make the tour more enjoyable and dynamic.

“Amazing !!!!”

We have been on the Mdina and Rabat tour with Matthew in Oct 2023. The tour was perfect in all senses and provided us a perspective of the history of Malta which we couldnt have otherwise. Matthew was really knowledgeable of the historical background of Malta and was able to provide us with the details to relate to it. It was an amazing city walking tour experience for us, may be one of the bests we ever had and all credit to Matthew for it.

“Amazing guide, beautiful city with lots of history”

Wherever I travel I’m always looking for free tours, this way by the end of the tour we can decide how much it was worth.
