Things to do Pacoche Coastal Marine Wildlife Refuge
Welcome to the Pacoche Wildlife Refuge, a true treasure nestled along Ecuador’s Pacific coast, just 30 minutes from Manta. This natural haven is teeming with diverse wildlife and breathtaking scenery. During this half-day excursion from Manta, you’ll have the chance to explore the wonders of this ecological sanctuary.
We’ll walk a trail along a semi-dry riverbed, where you might spot playful howler monkeys or even catch a glimpse of the elusive capuchin monkey swinging through the treetops.
We’ll hike up the hill along the lighthouse path and take some rest at the roofed viewpoints. From these spots, we can enjoy breathtaking views of the surroundings and witness seabirds flying around or, if we are lucky, admire blue-footed boobies resting on the cliffside. From June to September, we might even spot humpback whales breaching in the Pacific Ocean.
By the end of the tour, you’ll see why Pacoche is considered one of the most ecologically significant areas of Ecuador’s coast. Don’t miss this chance to connect with nature and uncover the beauty and biodiversity of this hidden coastal treasure.
