Seaborne international trade is what shaped Taiwan as a country on a global scale. Visit its coastal brilliants to learn about the history and present life of the Kaohsiung Port.
As the economic and political center of Southern Taiwan, Kaohsiung - formerly known as “Takao” - is often deemed as just another metropolitan.
However, Kaohsiung is distinctive in its geographical characteristics. First developed as a fishing village and later blooming into a port city for international trade in the 20th century, Kaohsiung’s seaborne industry remains an important part of local life and a unique feature to visiting guests.
On this tour, we take you through fascinating insights into the stories that happened surrounding the Harbor City: from religion, foreign trade, a bit of politics, and a stunning seaside skyline, you are sure to witness the most charming side of Kaohsiung.

“Great experience and tour guide ”
Hank took us through the city in a way a taiwanese fisherman would have experienced it. I appreciated the history and stories of the past. I liked the stops we made.

“Great tour to discover Kaohsiung harbor”
Even though I was alone, the tour still went on, which was very pleasant with guide Lesley. I learned a lot about the history (and food culture around) of the harbor! 10/10 recommend!

“Kaohsiung harbor tour”
Rachel is our guide. Even though she is not native Taiwanese, she came well prepared and knows a lot about the history of Kaohsiung. I enjoyed the tour very much.

“Fun two hour walk”
I enjoyed the stories shared by Rachel. She is full of energy and made the walk enjoyable despite the late morning sun and heat. The area around the harbour itself is not that exciting but Rachel’s stories brought life to it.
