Things to do Free Walking Tour of Nantes

We’ll meet at the designated time on Rue des États, near the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany. We’ll explore Jules Verne’s hometown as the guide recounts the most important moments in the history of this city on the Loire. First, we’ll admire the castle, an impressive 13th-century fortress. We’ll continue the free tour by visiting the Tour Lu, a former cookie factory that has now been transformed into a cultural center for the people of Nantes. From there, we’ll continue walking to see Nantes Cathedral, whose resemblance to the famous Notre Dame in Paris is striking. Another stop on the tour will be Maréchal Foch Square, where we’ll see the enormous column of Louis XVI, also known as the Column of Liberty. We’ll stroll along the city’s main thoroughfare, the Cours des 50 Otages, which will take us directly to the Tour de Bretagne skyscraper. Nearby are the Basilica of Saint Nicholas and the Place Royale, dominated by the statue of Anne of Brittany. We’ll walk through the Passage Pommeraye, a large shopping arcade whose decor will take you back in time.
