Explore Nantes on this unique tour, from the Jardin des Plantes to the famous Machines de l'île. Pass through the historic district and Haussmannian elegance to discover the soul of Nantes. An authentic stroll through nature and heritage!
The tour departs from the Jardin des Plantes, near the SNCF train station. We'll stroll leisurely through the streets towards St Pierre's Cathedral, then on to the Château des Ducs de Bretagne, where we can walk around the ramparts. From this vantage point, we can observe the former Ile Feydeau, and will have the opportunity to comment on and explain the different ways in which certain arms of the Loire were filled in at the beginning of the 20th century. We then continue our tour in the direction of the historic district, which we cross to reach the former Ile Feydeau and discover the superb mansions belonging to the Negrier families. We then head for the "Haussmannian" quarters to discover Place du Commerce, Place Royale, Rue Crébillon, the superb Passage Pommeraye and Théatre Graslin. Then it's time to head down to the quays and cross the slavery memorial on the way to the shipyard site with its famous elephant. We've now reached the end of our visit, which can be extended by crossing the Loire in a waterbus to discover the old fishing village of Trentemoult.
