Explore Belgrade’s modern history through the lens of Yugoslavia, socialism, and urban transformation. Starting at Terazije, this tour takes you past the Old and New Royal Palaces, the Serbian Parliament. Also, we pass through Tašmajdan Park, once a limestone quarry, then a World War II bombing site, and now a peaceful urban park. We reflect on science and symbolism at the Nikola Tesla Museum. While this isn’t a stop for a full interior visit during the walking tour, we pause to reflect on Tesla’s legacy .As we enter the Vračar district, we approach one of the most monumental symbols of modern Serbia — the Slavija Square. Once a quiet roundabout, Slavija became a chaotic urban hub during the 20th century, especially under socialist modernization projects.. The tour ends at the monumental Church of Saint Sava, where religion, nationalism, and ideology intersect. Learn how Belgrade grew from a royal capital to a socialist hub, and how Tito’s legacy still shapes the city. This tour is perfect for anyone interested in Yugoslavia, Cold War politics, architecture, and the transformation of everyday life in the 20th century.

“Was a great time”
It was my 5th tour with a guide from that side in each city I visited. I have to say Nikola was great, answered all our questions and gave some more understanding to the city. He spoke a bit fast and unclear sometimes which made it maybe harder to follow but definitely positive feedback from the tour.

Really worth doing this tour when you get to Belgrade - great way to see the city in a slightly different way, get local insight, meet other travellers, and all in the company of a super guide. Un tour por la historia reciente y no tan reciente de Belgrado desde el punto de vista de un Belgradense, la única pega de este tour es que no da muchas recomendaciones sobre sitios para comer, salir de fiesta etc, está más bien enfocado a la historia de la ciudad, no obstante recomiendo el tour para tener otro enfoque y no quedarte únicamente en lo superficial.

“A must do tour with historical and political interest”
I joined the tour with great pleasure having already joined Central City Free Walking Tour with Nikola. According to me a tourist should join both of tours to have a thorough knowledge of the city. You will see the Old and New Palace, the Parliament, great Churches and parks and will take a lot of pics and at the same time get useful info from Nikola for history and politics involved with these spots. RECOMMENDED!!!

“Knowledgeable Guide”
Nikola was friendly and knowledgeable - it was our first day and the walking tour was a great orientation of Belgrade. Wonderful experience overall but I would suggest that in future, the meeting point be changed to "Outside Hotel Moscow" rather than the square mentioned in the confirmation email. Locals do not know the name of the square when asked and the 'square' did not look like a square by Western European standards.
