Things to do Free Tour Belgrade: Explore the Historic City Center

Our free walking tour will take you through the historic heart of Belgrade, where you'll discover the stories, landmarks, and culture that have shaped Serbia’s vibrant capital. We begin in front of the Hotel Moskva on Terazije Square, and from there, we stroll down the lively Knez Mihailova Street, the city’s central pedestrian zone. Our next stop is Republic Square, home to the National Museum, National Theatre, and the famous statue of Prince Mihailo. Your guide will explain the cultural and historical significance of this central location. We then explore Skadarlija, Belgrade’s charming bohemian quarter, known for its cobblestone streets, traditional kafanas, and artistic spirit. From there, we move into Dorćol, one of Belgrade’s oldest neighborhoods, where we stop at the Museum of Vuk and Dositej and see the Bajrakli Mosque, the city’s only surviving mosque from the Ottoman period. Next, we head to the breathtaking Kalemegdan Park and Belgrade Fortress, which is rich in history and symbols of Belgrade, including the Victor Monument. The tour continues to the Cathedral Church of St. Michael and ends in the peaceful old quarter of Kosančićev Venac.

“walking tour”

It was good for an overview and to show how walkable Belgrade is. But too much time was spent talking about language, pubs, sports, etc. rather than what we were seeing. I would have liked more in depth history. Also, the guide spoke too quickly and although he was miked, I could only catch some of what he said.

I appreciated the tour. It provided great understanding of Serbian culture and main information to know about Belgrade history and geography. I highly recommend it, especiallh if you don’t have a lot of time in Belgrade since you will be able to see most important places in a record time. If you have more time I recommend to do it at the beginning of your trip, to have more time to discover by yourself places presented during the tour. Guide sent to us information after the trip as well, which was really nice and show professionalism. -1 ⭐️ bc we were a lot to do the tour at the same. Probably even 2 groups would have been feasible. Also time of meeting changed less than 12 hours before the tour… Apart from that, go !

I really enjoyed the tour. It was both informative and entertaining. I had the chance to correct/learn information about the modern aspects of Belgrade that I didn’t know or had misunderstood. The information provided was both historical and up-to-date. Nikola is a guide who really knows his job and does it well. The tips he gave about eating, drinking, and other activities in the city were very helpful, even outside of the tour. I tried the blueberry beer on his recommendation, and it was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this tour

Miki took good care of us through the whole walking tour. Although it was extremly hot he kept us in shadow places to make us as comfortable as possible. He showed us some very special places and gave info which we could not found or gather by ourselves. He also gave us a lot of useful advice and a map for further discovering of the Belgrade.
