We joined the Baku Night Tour last night, and as someone who has taken part in free walking tours in more than 85 countries, I’d like to share my honest opinion — I believe it will really help others choose the right experience. First of all, I want to express my sincere gratitude to our guide Emin — he’s a true professional, fluent in both Russian and English, and an excellent storyteller. While in other countries most free tours have groups of 25–40 people, here we were only 6 guests, and we had our own professional guide. There was also a separate Russian-speaking group with about 5–6 participants. In many cities, free walking tours are led by students or part-time guides, but here, the guides are licensed professionals, and that makes a big difference. Before the tour started, they politely explained that a tip of 10–12 EUR per person is recommended, which I think is absolutely fair considering the quality. Before booking, I compared prices of other night tours in Baku — most of them charge 20–22 EUR per person, but the professionalism here was on another level. In fact, during our tour, I noticed that another company’s guide (charging double the price) was asking our guide questions to share with his own group! That says everything about the level of knowledge and passion our guide had. We paid 15 EUR per person, and honestly, I would rather pay this amount for such a well-organized professional tour than waste 20 EUR on a low-quality one. Don’t believe the fake reviews — you can book this tour with full confidence. They know the city and its history down to the smallest details. Out of all the 85 free walking tours I’ve joined around the world, this was by far the best.
