Things to do Hiking Route in Garajonay

The Garajonay National Park was declared a World Heritage Site in 1986, the highest recognition of a protected area. Vimotions offers you this incredible route of Garajonay National Park and Guarimiar, a ravine in the south of the island of La Gomera. In 2012, the Garajonay National Park was named Biosphere Reserve, as well as the whole island, so you will be amazed to see the landscape and the varied flora and fauna in its forest.

The hiking route is divided into two sections. The first is a botanical route that will allow you to discover and understand the exceptional character of the laurel forest, which will last 1 and a half hours and have a difference in altitude of +150m and -150m. At the second section, you will travel through one of the most spectacular canyons on the island, where you will learn about the geology and how the islanders adapted to live in this rugged terrain (the typical Gomeran whistle, terraces, water pipes, among others). This section also has a duration of 1 hour and a half, with a difference in altitude of +200m and -200m. So the route has a total duration of 3 hours hiking. In total with transfers and breaks it takes between 6 and 7 hours.

You will also cross several trails that are in the forest and you will have several breaks to rest, eat, etc. At the end of the route, you will have a clear idea of what this precious place represents, not only for the Canarian people, but for the whole world.
