No one offers as much in one day as our Loch Ness tour! Tour the Scottish Highlands, discover Loch Ness and stroll the streets of Inverness. We visit GlenCoe!
We left Edinburgh early in the morning for the Scottish Highlands. We will cross the most beautiful landscapes of the Highlands, such as the Glen Coe Valley, until we reach the shores of Loch Ness. Once there, we will eat and with a bit of luck, the monster will be waiting for us. We travel the 37 km of the lake making stops to the city of Inverness where we can walk to see its center. On the way back we will stop in the charming town of Dunkeld. A dream place.
LAKE LUBNAIG
After crossing the geological limit that separates the Highlands from the Lowlands, we will stop at this lake where we will have the opportunity to establish a first contact with the nature that the Highlands hide.
TROSSACHS
North direction we see how the landscape changes and we are surrounded by mountains and lakes where we will stop to immortalize these beautiful landscapes.
North of the national park and before reaching Glen Coe, we cross one of the largest expanses of wilderness in Europe, Rannoch Moor, and from there we can see the iconic Ballachulish Mountain that marks the entrance to the Glen Coe Valley.
GLENCOE
Probably Scotland's best known valley for both its beauty and its gray past. Immerse yourself in nature and hear the history of this Glen Coe valley from our guide. This wonderful place, home to the McDonald clan in the past, is actually a volcanic caldera shaped by various glaciers.
Fort William:
FORT WILLIAM
15 minutes from Glen Coe, we will cross Fort William, located at the foot of the highest mountain in the United Kingdom, Ben Nevis, with its 1,345 meters of altitude.
LAKE NESS
Fort Augustus is a pretty town on the shores of Loch Ness. Here we will stop to eat. There are several restaurants where you can sample traditional Scottish food or, if you prefer, there are numerous places to have a picnic on the shore of Loch Ness and, with a bit of luck, meet its monster. You can also enjoy the Caledonian Canal in operation, an engineering work from 1822 carried out by the Scotsman Thomas Telford.
URQUHART CASTLE
This is undoubtedly the most beautiful place from which to admire the vastness of the dark waters of Loch Ness. We will make a photo stop at this castle, now in ruins, which is more than 1,000 years old and has an interesting history that you can learn from our guide. Get out the camera and take the best snapshots!
INVERNESS
At the north end of the lake is the city of Inverness, capital of the Highlands and where you will have the opportunity to take a short 45-minute walk through its streets and its center before heading back home.
DUNKELD
This charming little town was the first capital of Scotland and today it rests hidden among its forests on the other side of the River Tay. It is the perfect opportunity to learn about its history, stroll through its streets and try some local beer in one of its traditional pubs.
