Things to do Kilkenny Day Trip from Dublin

Come and breathe the pure air and soak up the true essence of Ireland when you sign up to our Kilkenny Day Trip from Dublin. Escape the hustle and bustle of the capital and explore the medieval town of Kilkenny (from the Irish ´Cill Chainnigh´), referred to as the “Marble City” after the black polished limestone that can be seen throughout the city´s corners.

Our trip sets off from the center of Dublin where we will hop on board a bus and head towards our destination. The bus trip to Kilkenny lasts about an hour and a half and we will then begin our route.

Alongside our Spanish-speaking guide, we will reveal the most fascinating legends like that of the oldest witch in Ireland, whilst we wander around its main churches, monasteries, and the Black Abbey.

We will of course stop to see the main jewel of Kilkenny, its striking castle and former residence of the Butler de Ormond family. Located on the banks of the River Nore, it is home to the Butler Gallery housed in the basement, an exhibition space with contemporary art and a restaurant. Among its many rooms, the library, the dining room, the Chinese bedroom and the immense gardens stand out which surround the fortress. This is without a doubt the ideal place to enjoy a leisurely and relaxing stroll. Moreover, its landscape is like no other.

Lastly, we will have some free time to wander along its medieval narrow streets and visit St. Canice´s Cathedral, go for a bite to eat or pop into its best-known pubs and have a taste of the finest pint of Smithwick´s, the traditional Irish red ale which was elaborated in the city.

If you want to lose yourself in the depths of Ireland in what is a charming fairy tale place, don´t hesitate when it comes to booking a place on our Kilkenny Day Trip from Dublin. What are you waiting for?
